VUE was created to be the next generation successor to hardware router-panels. Our goal in designing VUE was to create the best possible experience for users. VUE can elevate any existing router workflow by making production and monitoring operations simple and more efficient. Operators can customize their own workflow, depending on their job's unique complexities.

VUE pulls all router control through MAGNUM. MAGNUM is Evertz' orchestration and control software platform, responsible for managing your entire broadcast facility. MAGNUM can serve different router profiles to VUE, giving very fine control over what operators can access, so operators won't have to worry about managing permissions. MAGNUM and VUE also offers easy mechanisms to manage customized namesets. Most of our customers have over 10 different namesets, which is a testament to how user-friendly nameset creation is. Customers commonly have a nameset for your Engineers and Operators, but could create customized namesets for certain shows or events.

The Penalty Box connects directly to services managed by VistaLINK PRO. These services are constantly vigilant for any alarms or traps registered by devices. If these services go into alarm they will send an alert to VUE. VUE will display that alert in the penalty box. Users can click the alarms inside of the penalty box to be taken directly to the controls needed to resolve the alarm.

Some customers have requests for very sophisticated workflows: audio alarms from overhead speakers; disaster-recovery and studio-flip actions, or changing your multiviewer layout to show an AIR PATH. The degree of sophistication is entirely up to you. If you want simple - we can do simple. Most customers have their Penalty Box route the video of the serivce in alarm to VUE, and bring up Automatic Change Over (ACO) controls or Frame Sync (FS) controls.

VUE can consolidate all of your Audio and Video Processing controls into a single, intuitive interface. Every Evertz device has been built from the ground-up to integrate and be operated by VUE. All Evertz line cards can have controls exposed into VUE. VUE can control devices through web-API, SNMP and more. Devices do not even have to be Evertz hardware, as VUE can offers control of third-party devices if applicable.

Multiviewers are an integral part to any operation. Evertz has come up with great features to help you manage and operate your multiviewers. VUE connects directly into MAGNUM's multiviewer module. MAGNUM will offer you a single web-portal to manage all of the engineering elements of your multiviewers. You can create different multiviewer layouts and configurations in MAGNUM, and then expose them to VUE.

Your VUE workstation will pull controls from MAGNUM based on your user login. Most users will have access to their multiviewer displays and the ability to apply multiviewer layouts, and route new sources into your PIPs. Some users will have access to multiviewer snapshots. A snapshot is a button that will configure as many multiviewers as you want, to a previous state. Imagine setting up an entire multiviewer wall in a second! That is what VUE delivers.

The different VUE hardware platforms all have different Video Decode capabilities. We have the capability of displaying video and audio for H.264, H.265, JPEG 2000, JPEG XS, SMPTE ST 2110, NDI, SRT, RIST and SDI. Video decode is not necessary for any of our VUE-APPS. However, we recommend that video be present for this application. Please refer to this diagram to see our VUE platform and video decode breakdown.

There are several questions to consider in deciding if your VUE should have video:

Q. Are your operators non-technical?

A. Consolidating your video and audio monitoring into your control platform will greatly help your non-technical users.

Q. Does your workstation have near-field monitoring?

A. If you have a QC monitor at your workstation, there is no need for VUE to decode video. Instead, we'll setup intuitive controls for your users to control your routes.

Q. Do your operators work remotely or in a Work From Home (WFH) setting?

A. VUE-ANYWHERE provides your users with a seamless WFH workflow experience. We strongly recommend Video Decode if you're considering making your VUE an essential WFH component.

Q. Do you want to consolidate as much hardware as possible?

A. You can cut down the number of screens a user has to interact with. A single VUE interface an act as a QC monitor, audio panel and all of your control elements.

Salvos and Macros can greatly enhance your operations. In MAGNUM, users can easily create a Salvo (a list of routes to be executed simultaneously). Salvos can be exposed to whichever VUE user stations you prefer. A Salvo will greatly reduce the amount of time needed for your normal, day-to-day operations. If you are completing a regular task, we recommend creating a Salvo to help automate that task. Your task could be setting up a show that is produced daily, configuring a multiviewer wall, or something a recurring responsibility you would like to get out of the way ahead of time. Salvos will be able to help you with your day-to-day operations.

Reflex is lightning in a bottle! MAGNUM's Reflex is a custom scripting engine designed to help automate workflows even further. Reflex can pull in all features under MAGNUM and VUE and perform a complex series of tasks instantaneously. You could setup all of your routes, multiviewers, color correction, third-party device configuration and more. It's our answer to almost any "What If" question. Refer to Reflex's API documentation to learn more.

The 'Service Selector' is the interface operators typically begin their shift with. Operators will choose and select which resources they will be responsible for. It is as simple as selecting from a list and hitting 'start'. MAGNUM and REFLEX take care of all of the user permissions and resource allocation. If you have lots of different resources to manage, this is a perfect fit for you.

VUE has a lot of different multiviewer configuration tools. The basics are multiviewer layout recall, routing sources into PIPs, snapshot save and recall, and simply displaying the state of your multiviewer. With FEED- MANAGER, you can get so much more out of your multiviewers than you thought possible.

VUE can overlay the output of your multiviewer with controls, so if you wanted to full-screen a PIP, it is extremely easy. We can also forward the audio from a multiviewer output to an operator's VUE UI, so the operator can take a listen to any of the sources routed into the multiviewer.

Instead of relying on an operator to search and identify any problems with your content, VUE will provide an alert if there is an issue.

VUE integrates seamlessly with VistaLINK PRO's alarming and monitoring service. If you have a VistaLINK PRO system, VUE can directly connect to it. VistaLINK PRO will present VUE with relevant information about any service interruption. Create a unique response in VUE for when this happens. Some customers have audible alarms, some customers have a Penalty Box, and some customers trigger an Automatic Change Over.

FEED-MANAGER provides the exact controls you need. FEED-MANAGER displays sources and destinations in ways that make sense for your day-to-day operations:

• Local Device Routing:
Have a local QC monitor or Audio Monitor? Create a section within your UI to control those devices specifically. Quick-filters like FAVORITES or CAMERAS can be included so operators can navigate router-profiles with ease.

FEED-MANAGER gives you access to device handles for workflows like Color Correction, Audio Mapping, Audio Shuffling, Frame Syncing and more. The difference between FEED-MANAGER and more technical APPS like QC-PROD or ENGINEER is in the number of controls. FEED-MANAGER APP is designed for creative operators who work in a technical environment, so only a handful of controls are recommended.

If you go with a VUE-ANYWHERE capable VUE product, you'll have the possibility of doing a task, like Color Correction, while working from your couch! FEED-MANAGER APP is a great 'jack of all trades' workflow. We'll include only the necessary controls and throw away any distractions.

VUE's audio and video decode and de-encapsulation library is expansive and growing to fit industry needs. VUE acts as a confidence monitor for your content.

We have different types of VUE hardware that can accept different types of signals: Lightweight VUE clients can display compressed IP video, VUE workstations can display compressed and uncompressed IP video, and the VUE enterprise server (LM-COREF-SC) can display compressed IP, uncompressed IP, and 3G-SDI video. Some customers leverage these capabilities in real-time demanding markets like sports production, news production, online streaming, file playout and more!

The real benefit of our video decode capability is that it is really intuitive when combined with VUE's native Router Control. By consolidating all of your controls into a single VUE screen, and adding high-quality, low-latency video - your users will be empowered to do their job without technical distraction. Combined with our ability to push VUE's UI to a browser (via VUE-ANYWHERE), this is an extremely powerful feature that unlocks a lot of possible workflows.
