The sVIP is Evertz' newest multiviewer platform for media companies. This innovative platform combines the compute power of FPGA and CPU to give customers leverage with datacenter class servers (Evertz or customer provided) without sacrificing density and performance.
Ideally suited for on-premise datacenters or off-premise cloud services, the sVIP allows users to fully monitor uncompressed (SMPTE ST 2022-6 or ST 2110), compressed [MPEG-2, H.264, HEVC, JPEG2000 or JPEG-XS (TR-07, TR-08)] and simultaneously provide real-time performance data (SCTE , Audio, Video, Ancillary, transport layer monitoring).
The sVIP builds on proven core technology and experience that Evertz has developed in the multi-image display space over the past 15 years. Since the introduction of the MVP, Evertz has been looked upon as the innovative multiviewer solution provider that addresses the changing landscape in media production and distribution. The sVIP offers comprehensive monitoring of IP payload that includes: video (e.g. loss, black, frozen, etc.), audio (loss, mute, loudness, etc.), and ancillary data (e.g. closed captions, subtitles, SCTE, etc.) parameters to ensure quality of the IP streams. The sVIP also adds advanced IP stream monitoring features required in today's IP-based facilities for uncompressed(RTP sequence, IAT, Latency) and compressed (TR-101-290) stream transport.
The sVIP features up to 4x 100GbE interfaces which allows for the monitoring and analysis up to 64x uncompressed IP streams using SMPTE ST 2022-6/ST 2110 (at 1080p60 or 16x single-essence 2160p60) while simultaneously monitoring up to 88x (with up to 24x decoded) compressed IP stream (using MPEG-2, H.264, HEVC, JPEG 2000, or JPEG XS) inputs on a single platform. The sVIP allows for up to 128 PIP's per mosaic layout for unmatched multi-image display capability. It supports up to eight unique mosaic outputs at 1080p or four UHD (ST-2110-20 or ST-2022-6) also supports compressed H.264 outputs (RIST, SRT, UDP or HLS). Based on its density and process capacity, the sVIP is in a league of its own.
Coupled with Evertz' Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) Orchestration, Monitoring and Analysis software tools, media companies have a complete monitoring solution without compromise. Extensive monitoring of the signals at the physical, transport, protocol, codec and IP essence layers gives media companies a full view of their signal flows. The advanced intelligent monitoring-by-exception (or "penalty-box") features are enabled using both the traditional alarming (based on monitored thresholds and parameters) and the real-time data.

Display Features
The sVIP decodes and displays ancillary data, including: Closed Captions (CEA 608/708 or OP-47), Teletext, Subtitles, SCTE 35/104 triggers, and Evertz' DreamCatcher™ data (e.g. clip info, timecode, status, etc.). The sVIP supports Tally and UMD information from Evertz' SDVN Orchestration software (MAGNUM-OS) or via third-party protocols (e.g. TSL, etc.).
Dual Network and Redundancy Support
The sVIP supports main and backup input interfaces to support dual-path networks (e.g. A/B or red/blue networks). The sVIP leverages intelligent monitoring of the input streams to switch main/backup streams based on configured thresholds and parameters. For outputs, the sVIP supports SMPTE ST 2022-7 for hitless switching on a dual-path network.
User Experience
Users use the mosaic layout design tools integrated within MAGNUM-OS (via web browser) to configure clean and modern layouts. Seamless integration of sVIP with Evertz' VUE allows operators to control various functions like mosaic layout recall, and advanced feature including monitoring-by-exception.
Open System
The sVIP is an open system that integrates easily into existing IP systems with support for NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 (for SMPTE ST 2110) and JSON API. For applications that leverage unmanaged public networks, the sVIP supports open transport formats including Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) and Reliable Internet Stream Transport (RIST).
